Sorry for the delay … but Years 5 & 6 wanted to share some of their wonderful adventures at PGL this year. There were so many to choose from – that’s why it’s taken us such a long time to pick the best photos! PGL take safety incredibly seriously – so we always had a safety talk before any activity. Take a look at our photos – we went climbing, trapezing, fencing, zipping down a zipwire and getting very muddy on an obstacle course (even though we were told not to!) By the end, we were all very tired! The Year 5s are already looking forward to next year.
Museum of Zoology
On Thursday, June 14th Year 6 set off on an exciting trip, across London, to the Museum of Zoology at UCL. This was to support our work on Charles Darwin, the Theory of Evolution and classification of animal species. We were fascinated ! This tiny museum is full of incredible specimen, from the microscopic to full-sized elephant skulls. We were involved in a workshop, spent an hour viewing all the artefacts and then drew some detailed scientific diagrams and sketches.
This miniature museum is a giant-sized treasure – hidden away – we all learnt so much.
Gunnersbury Park Museum
On Friday June 8th, Year 6 had a fabulous school trip to the newly renovated Gunnersbury Park Museum for an art workshop. We travelled to the park and spent some time on a Nature Trail, enjoying the wonderful grounds and the splendid sunshine. Following these explorations, we entered the printing workshop. Using some Sanderson prints and museum artefacts for inspiration, pupils sketched and created their own printing blocks. Utilising these and the bright coloured printing inks they created wonderful patterns for their own canvas bags. A really creative and imaginative trip !
We are all so incredibly proud of all our Year 6 children for their hard work over the course of the year – especially last half-term, when they had to take their SATs. We celebrated our achievements at the end of SATs week with a fun filled trip to Redlees Park. Even the sun came out! Well done Year 6!
